It Is Ok To Help Others Succeed

Once you’ve built your masterpiece, you have to spread the word

Many have great blogs and websites but have no idea how to get traffic…..

Once you’ve built your masterpiece, you have to spread the word. Submitting your Web site to search engines, directories and related sites is critical to success. The real Web-savvy companies have whole teams of geeks who spend their days figuring out how to get better rankings in search engines.

Unfortunately, there’s a lot of fools’ gold, bad advice and even downright scams in the Web site promotion field. If you go about promoting your site the wrong way, you can actually hurt traffic instead of helping to build it. Here are 10 things you should definitely not do, no matter how tempting some spam message makes it sound:

1 – Spam Not!

This is the cardinal rule of Netiquette. Mass, unsolicited e-mail is not acceptable, anywhere, for any reason. There are hundreds of hustlers out there trying to sell you databases and software that you can use to spam, but don’t believe their promises. Spamming will make enemies for you, not friends. It can also get you barred from large ISPs, crippling your traffic.

2 – Don’t shell out big for submission services.

Submit your site to 500 search engines for $19.95! Bad deal. There aren’t 500, or even 100, search engines worth submitting to. The 19.95ers simply run your URL through an auto-submitter (like Selfpromotion.com or submitit.com), which you can do yourself for free. If you want a professional to submit your site, plan on spending a few hundred bucks at most, which should buy you a careful and thorough job. I myself currently offer a basic submission service for $350, and I admit that I’m a little pricey. Insist on receiving documentation of everything that’s been done, including all e-mail autoresponses from the search engines.

3 – Don’t waste time on the flotsam and jetsam of the Web.

Submit your site to the major search engines and directories, perhaps using one of the auto-submitters for some, and doing others individually. There are about 30 that are worth submitting to. Then seek out specialized directories that are appropriate for your site (travel, investment, shopping, country-specific, etc.). Don’t waste time with obscure search engines and kids’ links pages. There are billions of pages like this, but they get zilcho traffic. Your time is better spent carefully crafting your submission to Yahoo.

4 – Don’t rush through your Yahoo submission.

Yahoo is by far the most important directory, and the hardest to get into. Submissions are reviewed by real editors, so follow the instructions to the letter, and really try to convince them that your site is a useful resource. Some good tips are to be found on the rather obscure page called “My Site on Yahoo,” and selfpromotion.com also has some good Yahoo tips.

5 – Never submit your site until it’s open for business.

Test your site thoroughly, and make sure every section is complete before you begin submitting. Most surfers will never return to a URL where they found a dead link or an “under construction” sign.

6 – Don’t forget to integrate your URL into your business.

It’s amazing how many companies spend big bucks to build a Web site, then balk at the cost of printing new business cards to include the URL. Your Web site URL should be on every piece of company media from letterheads to coffee cups – anywhere that a phone number would be included.

7 – Don’t mess with black magic.

There are a lot of sneaky tricks discussed in the various Web promotion newsgroups and mailing lists, that claim to improve your search engine rankings. Loading your page with invisible keywords, creating special “doorway” pages with magic dust on them, and secret programs (for $19.95) that “force-feed” your page to search engines. Don’t fool with it. The search engines and directories wage an ongoing battle against those who would “beat the system,” and they can and will bar you if they suspect you of “spamming” them. Do use META tags, keywords in titles and body text, and that sort of thing, but don’t overdo it, and always follow the submission rules.

8 – Don’t put anything in your Web site directory that you don’t want the public to see.

Most of us have a few “test” pages, or perhaps pages of personal material, that we keep on our Web server, but that isn’t meant to be seen by the public. Straight search engines like Excite and Altavista, however, will automatically “spider” and index every page on your site, unless you tell them not to. Create a text file called “robots.txt,” and place it in your Web site’s root directory (usually the “htdocs” directory). This file has a list of pages or directories that you want to keep the spiders out of, and it looks something like this:

This tells all visiting spiders not to fool with any of the 3 named directories. Note that the directory names must end with a “/”.

9 – Don’t neglect to measure your traffic.

Some wise man said, “If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.” Be sure to keep your server log files safe, and use the software tool of your choice to analyze them. Your ISP may offer one or more free tools for your use. Getstats is one popular free one. If you can shell out a few hundred bucks, high-powered traffic analysis packages like Hit List or Web Trends can really help you boost your traffic by telling you how many hits are coming from each search engine, and what keywords people are searching on to reach your site.

10 – When you’re finished, don’t stop!

Site promotion is an ongoing process. Once you’ve made your submissions, check back a month later, and you’ll find that some of them didn’t take. Resubmit as necessary, but don’t overdo it. Always be on the lookout for new sites that might be willing to give you a link, and for new (but legitimate and preferably free) promotion opportunities.

We should return to the ‘good old days’

Reich has written several ‘ah ha!” books; books that so clearly explain what is happening or has happened with the world economy that as you read you say to yourself, “so this is what is going on!”

His latest work, The Future of Success describes the changes we are currently experiencing in the world economy. If it feels like earning a living has gotten more complicated, stressful and difficult, it is because that is exactly the case. We are working harder than ever before, working longer hours with less security than the previous generation of workers. What Reich describes as the new economy is taking a toll on our lives and health. Reich does not however take the position that we should return to the ‘good old days’; ever the realist, he knows all too well that there is no going back. Additionally, for all the challenges we face in adapting to this new economy, there are many opportunities open to those who have the skills and courage to capitalize on these opportunities.

It used to be that hard work and loyalty to a company assured you of a secure middle-class lifestyle. This lifestyle was driven by the financial security offered by your job to buy a house in the suburbs and a car on time. The new economy is based on an entirely different foundation: those with specialized skills and knowledge will succeed.

Reich explains that the current changes in our economy are driven by technological advances. Geography is no longer a determinant of where we do business; the world is truly one big market now. There are cascading consequences of this phenomenon; since consumers have access to world-wide markets, they can easily search for the ‘best deal.’ In turn, businesses have had to adapt to this new reality. In adapting, businesses have been forced to enter the global marketplace which is characterized by niche services, intense competition and an ever changing environment. While we as consumers have a much more diverse marketplace, there are a number of unintended consequences. These include the outsourcing of many repetitive jobs, the lowering of prices for goods and the concomitant lowering of wages, increased productivity in businesses, and the death of businesses that could not or would not adapt to the new way of doing things. The recent discussions about the value and cost of the ‘walmartization’ of the marketplace reflect this dichotomy of the quest for lower prices and access to a broad array of goods and the toll this takes on our communities.

It is not just the marketplace that is changing though. The very nature of work is changing. Reich observes that our traditional employment arrangement of individual workers working in an organization and performing specific duties is disappearing. The new work arrangements are increasingly ad hoc teams. Fluid organizations form to perform a specific project with the leader of the project gathering resources as needed. Reich refers to this type of worker as the ‘shrinks’. Shrinks are described as those who can read a situation and bring together the human and material resources needed to complete the task. The other primary type of worker in this new arrangement is called ‘geeks’. Geeks have a specialized skill needed for a particular project. Geeks must constantly keep current in their technology field.

If Reich is correct in his observations about the changes in our workplace, then the implication is that our own way of working will change dramatically also. Specialty skills, niche services, contract work, flat organizations will characterize employment in this new age. Perhaps one of the most dramatic changes will be in how we are compensated. If our work world does transform into ‘ad hoc’ teams who are compensated by the project, this means the end of our pay system characterized by regular paychecks and expected raises and benefits.

For Extension educators, it is important that we recognize the changes being experienced by our clientele. We are undergoing a seismic shift in how our entire world operates. We can help our clientele understand these changes and point them in the direction of finding ways to adapt.

Show Me How To Promote My Website Is The Request I Get Every Day Says Darrell L. Brantley

Here are some resources based on their usefulness, rate of success and overall quality. I have written this article to help people find new sources of traffic for their website or blog and to shed some light on some of the best resources related to each method of promotion. I hope you find this article informative and useful! Enjoy!

1. Article Directories
Article directories are a wonderful way to get traffic and back links to your website. There are many well established article directories that have been proven to get websites traffic. People search for articles in different categories and after reading the article they usually follow a link at the bottom of the article to your website.

www.eHow.com
www.EasyArticles.com
www.ArticleDashBoard.com
www.Article99.com
www.ValuableContent.com
www.EzineArticles.com

2. Business Directories
Posting in business directories is still an effective way to get back links and small amounts of traffic. Most directory sites have many listings that are organized into. Being that there are so many business directories, the best way to find one related to your site would be to do a Google search or to use the websites below to find them.

www.dmoz.org
dir.yahoo.com
www.lii.org
www.stpt.com/directory
www.business.com
www.cannylink.com

3. Classifieds
Classifieds are a common way to easily make posts for free, and reach large amounts of people. They tend to work better for business or service-based websites, but you can also drive traffic to other types of sites as well

www.Kijiji.com
www.craigslist.org
classifieds.myspace.com
classifieds.yahoo.com

4. Forums
Forums are another good way to get back links and traffic, but you need to contribute to the forums and not just spam them with your links. I recommend becoming an active member of forums that are related to your site, as well as including your website link in your forum signature. By making intelligent and informative posts people will be inclined to check out the link in your signature because you’ve built interest about yourself.
The best way to do this is to manually search for forums related to your site and then sign up to start posting.

5. Social Networking Sites
Social networking sites are often overlooked as a way to market a website or blog. Having lots of friends and access to groups can be a good way to contact a lot of people in an easy and efficient manner. Most social networking sites also have forums and classifieds that you can post in.

www.facebook.com
www.linkedin.com

6. Social Bookmarking Sites
Social bookmarking sites can be an amazing way to promote your website. What a lot of people will do is write a killer article and then submit it to the social bookmarking sites to drive traffic to that article, hoping it will get bookmarked a lot.

7. Search Engines
This is probably one of the most difficult ways to market a site, but also one of the most popular ways due to the fact that the traffic you get can be extremely targeted to exactly what your site offers. This is especially important for sites that sell a product and are looking for a high conversion rate. It is usually better to start off targeting niche markets and low competition long tail keywords. Ranking well on Google for a phrase like ‘graphic design’ in the search engines would be extremely difficult to do, so look for longer keywords or more detailed ones.

www.yahoo.com
www.msn.com

8. Word of Mouth
This is a very basic and old school way of marketing but it has remained because it really is effective. All you have to do is tell all your family, friends and co-workers about your new site or blog and let them do the work! Be sure to have business cards on hand to give out to anyone you speak with.

9. Pay per Click Advertising (PPC)
PPC advertising takes a lot of studying to do right, and can cost a decent amount of money, but if your site is well designed and converts well, or you are just looking for traffic, it can be a very powerful marketing tool when done right.

adwords.google.com
searchmarketing.yahoo.com
adCenter.Microsoft.com

10. Banner Advertising
The difficulty in banner advertising is simply creating a very alluring banner design in the amount of space specified. Some sites don’t let you create animated banners, but if you have a very intriguing static banner on a good site it can get you traffic for sure.
The best way to do this is to manually search for websites and blogs related to your site and contact them for a banner exchange.
11. Text Link Advertising
Text link advertising is usually cheap and can bring in lots of traffic, but the traffic tends to be rather unspecific – which is ok sometimes. I find it best to look for sites related to your website to buy text links spots on. Or, if you are just looking for tons of traffic, you can go to major text link sites that offer spots on very large websites.
www.text-link-ads.com
www.adbrite.com
www.adengage.com

12. Print Advertising
Print advertising can be very expensive, but is especially useful when advertising in a specific location. For example, if you are opening a new restaurant in a city, sending out flyers is a surefire way to get people to your website and restaurant. You could also drop off business cards or flyers at local stores and start offering your services to local people.

13. Portfolio Sites
There are many websites that host portfolios of designers and artists. By submitting your work to their sites you will often get a lot of exposure to your own site by way of a link.

www.behance.net
www.altpick.com
www.portfolios.com
www.deviantart.com

14. Tutorial Sites
Submitting tutorials is a great way to get traffic to your website via a link. A lot of designers submit tutorials to sites like the ones below, and get a lot of exposure. Most of these tutorials sites are very well ranked so getting a link on them can be very good for your website or blog.
www.pixel2life.com
www.good-tutorials.com
www.tutorialoutpost.com

15. Link Baiting
Linking baiting is when you write or post something that has the potential to be blogged about, linked or bookmarked a lot. Good content in general will help your website or blog out a lot, but you can step it up a notch by producing videos or articles specifically for link baiting.

16. Contests
People love entering contest, especially if there is a desirable prize. Contest prizes range in types. Some sites will offer you exposure and links and other sites will offer money or actual physical prizes. The key to a successful contest is obviously getting lots of people to enter, so make sure you promote your contest as much as you can on forums, classifieds and more. Also, don’t be afraid to enter contests for a chance to win some money or prizes, yourself!
17. Link Exchanges
This is arguably one of the most important ways to rank well for keywords and bring traffic to your website. It is important to exchange links or get one-way links from relevant sites. Make sure you are using an important keyword because your links anchor text and not a word like ‘click here’ or something you don’t want to rank well for in search engines.
The best way to do this is to manually search for websites and blogs related to your site and contact them for a link exchange. Also, check out the two sites below.
www.seopen.com/seopen-tools/
blogsearch.google.com

18. Email Marketing
Email marketing can be very beneficial if done well. You do not want to be a spammer or buy lists of emails, though. The way to work email marketing is to have an opt-in email form on your website where users can sign up to receive emails and special offers. Offering a free e-book or tips is a good way to get people to sign up. Once they are signed up you can send emails once in a while to bring them back to your site or to promote something.

www.aweber.com
www.icontact.com

19. Viral Marketing
This is the hottest new way to market a website, but it is not easy! You have probably heard about all these YouTube videos getting millions of views, and articles on Digg getting thousands of hits. If you can think up a really clever, funny or useful idea and tie it into your website via a link or some other way, you can drive incredible amounts of traffic to your site with very little money or possibly none at all.

20. Videos
Creating videos has become very popular since the creation of YouTube and other video-based sites. This ties into viral marketing and is a good way to get people interested in your blog or website. It is most common to show or say the URL of your website at the beginning and/or end of a video, or tie it into your video site profile some how.
www.youtube.com
video.google.com
vids.myspace.com
video.search.yahoo.com
video.msn.com
video.aol.com
www.metacafe.com

21. Podcasting
This is basically creating audio files and then letting your users download or stream them via a link on your website or blog or via RSS feeds. This is a good alternative to creating videos if you don’t have a video camera or don’t like being on film. I have seen many sites successfully offer audio downloads as a way of bringing users a large amount of information quickly. You can even post on craigslist.com and hire voice over talent for your podcasts at affordable prices.

22. Blogs
Blogs are a great way to reach a lot of people in a fast manner. They take a lot of work, and to make a blog really effective they need to be updated with fresh content at least several times a week. A lot of websites will have a blog in addition to a main website as a sort of news system for their main site, or just as a way to drive traffic to a website.
www.wordpress.com
www.blogger.com
www.twitter.com
www.squidoo.com
www.tumblr.com

23. eBooks
eBooks have become very popular and they tend to spread well in downloading communities. You can even sell your eBook on eBay, via a website or just offer it as a gift to get people to sign up for your newsletter.

24. Press Releases
Press releases can be an efficient way to get media attention if your website or product is newsworthy enough. There are several websites you can do this on. However, more commonly press releases are mailed, faxed, or e-mailed to assignment editors at newspapers, magazines, radio stations, television stations, and/or television networks.

25. Networking
Networking can have many benefits to promoting your site. I am always adding people on instant messaging services and talking to people related to my field. By networking and making friends in the business you can learn from each other and help each other which will benefit your site.

The best way to do this is to meet people in forums or on sites related to yours and chat via instant messengers. I usually run 5 different instant messengers that are all filled with business contacts and friends.

23. eBooks
eBooks have become very popular and they tend to spread well in downloading communities.

Darrell L. Brantley Gets Upset At People For Letting Common Sense Fly Out The Door

So Many People See Me On From 5 AM Till 12 AM and they ask what drives you to put in those kind of hours in when we all know you don’t need to work another day in your life. I always answer these people the same way. Things I hear online everyday drive me to work the way I do.

Every day I hear I want to succeed with my online business so bad! I try to read and self educate myself as much as I can and I have a lot of knowledge but I just don’t understand the application of this knowledge. My “UPLINE” said he or she would help me and once I signed up they were gone some of them even just stopped online work altogether.

I ask people all the time if they Googled the name of the person they were getting in “Business” with. 10 out of 10 people who are failing online say no. That is the first step to failure online. Who in the real world would give money and start a business with someone they do not know. It is this loss of common sense that blows me away.

It makes me upset with people and I have said to many people “you are where you are because you wanted to dream instead of succeed”. This upsets some people but you must take responsibility for your failures as much as you do your successes. Once I get people to get their head on straight I get started on helping them get their plan together.

Many of them ask me hey do I have to join “Under You” before you help me? The answer is no. I ask them if they are happy with what they are doing why change. They are welcome to look at what I am doing if they want to make the change great but they don’t have to. Yes a lot of them change over once they see what system I have and how one sale makes them $2,000.00 per sale and it doesn’t take them long to get right on board and get started.

People must love what they are doing to be a success. If they are unhappy with what they are doing they will not finish what they have started. People often say hey I have some friends in the same place I am in my business can I send them to you I always say yes but I hope to teach you well enough you can go help your friends yourself.

If there is anything I would hope you take from this article is simply this always research the person you are going to follow into any business online or brick and mortar types. Google or Yahoo or MSN Research Research Research!!!!

Show Me How To Promote My Website Is The Request I Get Every Day Says Darrell L. Brantley

People search for articles in different categories and after reading the article they usually follow a link at the bottom of the article to your website.

www.GoArticles.com
www.eHow.com
www.EasyArticles.com
www.ArticleDashBoard.com
www.Article99.com
www.ValuableContent.com
www.EzineArticles.com

You could also drop off business cards or flyers at local stores and start offering your services to local people.

www.vistaprint.com
www.clubflyers.com

Also, check out the two sites below.

blogsearch.google.com

Once they are signed up you can send emails once in a while to bring them back to your site or to promote something.

www.icontact.com

23. eBooks

Darrell L. Brantley Gives Us His Top 5…

There are five characteristics I’ve seen in my experience that have led people to real success in the network marketing industry. In my opinion, you cannot be successful without them. With them, however, you are in a strong position to achieve your aspirations in this industry. I want to explain to you just how the Simple Math Financial Solution holds to these characteristics and will help you develop them for yourself.

1.THEY USED THEIR OWN PRODUCTS OR SERVICES AND COULD EXPLAIN WHY YOU SHOULD USE THEM.

This is an easy one. It’s easy to sell a product when you use it yourself. A personal guarantee based on experience is a powerful tool. As you use The S.M.F.S. Marketing System, you’ll see the success, and as you tell others about it, they’ll see your success and want to be a part of it as well.

2. THEY HAD A REASON FOR DOING THE BUSINESS AND A BUSINESS PLAN.

There are many reasons to do business other than just to make money, right now. While S.M.F.S. will make money for you right now, it can also be viewed as an investment, with immediate and long-term returns. The business network that you build with people with similar goals will benefit you for many years.

3. WE LET THE TOOLS DO THE SELLING.

This system has been created to sell itself. Everything is in place to advertise, market, and sell this system, all with no extra effort on your part. Some things really are simple. This allows you to concentrate on marketing not selling you products and services.

4. THEY WERE ALWAYS LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE BUSINESS.

I think this holds true in all aspects of life. Those who stay on top of things, always ready to adapt to the different challenges and changes that come their way, are the ones who make it. At S.M.F.S. we are seeking daily new ways to improve. In fact, we never stop getting better. We’ve got the best product on the market, and we’ll always strive to make it even better.

5. THEY STAYED IN THE GAME LONG ENOUGH TO HAVE A CHANCE TO SUCCEED.

Patience is a virtue in any business. Think of the exponential growth model, which is shaped like a J. It starts out slow, when patience is required, then all of a sudden, boom! That’s how a network operates. From personal experience, I can tell you that the longer you are involved the broader and more expansive your network will become, until soon you have a great team with great income..
I’m convinced that there are keys to success in life. Five of those keys are listed above. For some, they come naturally. For others, they have to be developed. Either way, they work. They just need a vehicle to turn attributes into assets.

Maybe you joined MLM for some of the same reasons that I did. I wanted to supplement my primary income, and help do my part for the environment by not driving my vehicle every day. I have a knack for sales, I had a desire to be my own boss, I loved the idea of flexibility, I was interested in entrepreneurship. As well as being able to truly help another human being become free as well.

Darrell L. Brantley And Simple Math Financial Solutions says Yes We Can…

Yes we can… When it comes to making an income online it is very easy with the knowledge and drive to succeed. So many people who have failed in this business market fail for the same reasons people fail in every business in the world. These reasons are:
Lack of knowledge in the field they are in.
Lack of dedication it take to push yourself to do the work and lay a foundation.
Lack of the support and training they need to succeed.
Most often people fail because they have a poor marketing plan.
Mr. Brantley says the most important thing you can do when joining with someone to start a online business is to do your due diligence. Check out the person you are getting involved with. Search their name and company name. You can do this through Google or Yahoo to name a few. And he adds to always remember if you could get rich from $30.00 and a website then every person on the planet would be doing it.
Don’t be a fool or be fooled by $19.95 get rich quick schemes. If someone wanted to sell you a sub shop for $50.00 would you buy it? I would hope not. If the sub shop was making money why would they sell it to you for $50.00? Think about it is the meat bad is the health dept. going to shut this place down. So remember let common sense be your guide and allow yourself to not dream but to be realistic in your goals and make real achievable goals.

If anyone needs help they can contact Mr. Brantley at WWW.simplemath.info
